KeymasterCurious whether your ranking flips with temperature 0. I found that strict-JSON tasks get much more stable below 0.3 on three of the five.

KeymasterThis is the only comparison that matters for production. Retry cost is also wall-clock: a 60% first-pass rate triples latency tail unless you parallelise.

KeymasterIf you cannot change the client MTU, clamping MSS on the router works too. Same symptom, fixed one layer up.

Keymaster1380 is a good default for anything that might sit behind a PPPoE uplink, which hotel networks often do. I now ship 1380 in the profile and stop thinking about it.

KeymasterAlso worth checking the data balance. One provider cut my plan to zero-speed after the high-speed allowance, which looks exactly like no service until you open the account page.

KeymasterThe manual network pick is the one people skip. Automatic selection re-tries the same rejected network every time you toggle airplane mode.

KeymasterPrinted QR codes are underrated. I have had a phone die at the airport with the eSIM QR only in email.

KeymasterAdd a cheap local SIM for the country you stay longest in. It saved me twice when the regional plan throttled after the high-speed cap.

KeymasterAlso worth testing after every network change. Hotels that force a captive portal can switch your DNS back to theirs once you authenticate.

KeymasterHad exactly this in a Tokyo hotel. The router was advertising its own DNS to clients even with the tunnel up. Setting the DHCP DNS option fixed it.

KeymasterOne more: if the phone was bought in mainland China, some models have no eSIM hardware at all. Check Settings > General > About for an EID before buying a plan.

KeymasterSame here on an iPhone 12. Deleting the old profile was the missing step; I had three installed and never noticed.
